Obon Zazenkai

Join us for our annual Obon Zazenkai

Obon is a Japanese holiday celebrated August 13-16 as a time to remember ancestors and as a time of reunion. Traditionally in Japan, bonfires and lanterns are lit in front yards to welcome the spirits home. Families come together to celebrate loved ones. At Rising Lotus, we celebrate our own ancestors, our Buddhist ancestors, and coming together again as a sangha as the summer winds down. Zazenkai is a period of chanting, sitting meditation, walking meditation (as you are able), sharing tea, and a dharma talk. Please consider joining us for all or part of our 4-hour celebration. You can sign up in the Events section of this website to receive the Zoom link.
